Pre-Transplant

Navigating the transplant process can be overwhelming. We offer comprehensive information and support for patients preparing for a kidney transplant. From understanding the evaluation criteria to preparing physically and emotionally for surgery, we assist in guiding patients through each step of the pre-transplant process.

Post-Transplant

Our post-transplant support eases patients’ understanding of the critical aspects of after care. Adjusting to life after transplantation includes medication management, recognizing signs of rejection, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and addressing any emotional or psychological challenges. Empowering transplant warriors to achieve long term success and preserve the Gift of Life is our goal.

Community

Fostering a supportive and empowering community for individuals with kidney disease as well as transplant patients, our community allows members to share their experiences, gain valuable knowledge, and receive encouragement from others who understand their journey. Through group discussions, educational resources, and peer support, we aim to enhance the quality of life for each member, offering hope, connection, and practical advice for navigating kidney health and transplant challenges together.

Finding a Balance Can Be Hard, but it Doesn’t Have To Be

We understand the daily struggles that come with being diagnosed with kidney disease, dealing with transplant issues, living with dialysis, and coping with mental health challenges. We want to support you, and share our experiences while providing a safe space for you to share yours.

My Process

Pesh Patel’s journey as a double kidney transplant recipient is a testament to resilience, determination, and hope. Before his transplants, Pesh faced the harsh realities of kidney disease, including the physical toll of declining kidney function and the emotional strain of uncertainty. His pre-transplant experience involved rigorous dialysis sessions, dietary restrictions, and constant medical monitoring. Despite these challenges, Pesh remained steadfast, channeling his energy into advocating for kidney disease awareness and support for others in similar situations.

Unique Framework

Pesh Patel’s coaching framework for individuals suffering from kidney disease involves four key stages: Awareness and Education, Personalized Health Plan, Support and Advocacy, and Long-Term Maintenance and Growth. Initially, Pesh focuses on educating patients about their condition and addressing knowledge gaps through detailed sessions and resource provision. Next, he collaborates with patients to develop a customized health plan, setting realistic goals and monitoring progress. Ongoing support and healthcare advocacy are provided to help navigate the healthcare system and foster community engagement. Finally, Pesh emphasizes long-term health maintenance, resilience building, and personal growth, ensuring sustained improvements and empowering patients to lead fulfilling lives.

We prioritize the pillars of education, awareness, and advocacy as fundamental to achieving this mission. Our founder, Pesh Patel, brings a unique perspective as both a kidney warrior and advocate, having personally navigated the many challenges and setbacks of this condition. We firmly believe that with the right support and resources, these obstacles can be surmounted, empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives.

I’ve Developed Fun & Realistic Methods For a Balanced Nutrition

Developing fun and realistic methods for balanced nutrition is essential for making healthy eating an enjoyable and sustainable part of daily life. This approach involves integrating a variety of colorful, nutrient-dense foods into meals in creative ways, such as trying new recipes that incorporate seasonal produce or experimenting with different cooking techniques. Encouraging a balanced diet also means allowing for flexibility and occasional indulgences, so that individuals don’t feel deprived. Interactive activities like cooking classes, meal planning workshops, and taste-testing sessions can make the process engaging and educational. Additionally, involving family and friends in these activities can provide support and make the journey towards balanced nutrition a shared and enjoyable experience. By focusing on practical, enjoyable methods, maintaining a healthy diet becomes a positive and achievable goal for everyone.

He shared his personal story with us and comforted us through every twist and turn this disease brings. He walked us through how to talk to doctors, understand test results, dietary suggestions, dialysis, and the transplant process – before, during, and after. You will not meet a more kindhearted and caring individual to guide you through understanding and thriving with kidney disease. He helped us become advocates for our loved one and he continues to be one of our biggest cheerleaders and supporters through all the highs and lows of the past year. We cherish you Pesh; your support and friendship has been invaluable to our family!”

“As with most individuals, I have had my fair share of health issues. At the age of 30, I was diagnosed with hypertension, followed by being diagnosed with Diabetes at the age of 49. In July 2024, I was informed that my kidney function had dropped to 26%. It was a massive shock to me. I panicked and was afraid of what was coming next. I started reaching out to friends and family to see if I could get any information to ease my mind. Through a mutual friend, I was introduced to Pesh. He has been a total blessing to me and my life, and I cannot put into words what he has done for me. He took me on as a client and educated me about how my diet and lifestyle needed to change for my kidney health. Pesh is quick to respond to whatever questions I may have, and if he does not know something, he will never give me the wrong answer. He also ensures that I speak to my physician about my questions and empowers me to be my own advocate. After a little over a month of following Pesh’s diet and lifestyle suggestions, I have gained back 8% of my kidney function. Pesh has literally been a life saver. His calm demeanor towards me and his thorough response to most, if not all of my questions have put my mind at ease. I plan on working with Pesh as long as he is willing to help me, and I am looking forward to positive results in the future.”

“I highly recommend Pesh to anyone navigating the challenges of kidney failure. He played an essential role in my Dad’s journey from kidney failure to a successful transplant. Pesh’s compassion and deep knowledge of kidney health was invaluable. He guided us on the right questions to ask at doctor’s appointments, explained which labs to prioritize, and provided advice on the best foods to optimize my Dad’s recovery. Beyond his expertise, Pesh truly cared for our entire family, always checking on everyone’s well being. He went above and beyond by creating flyers to help find a living donor and was always there to listen and advocate for us when needed. Pesh’s support and knowledge are truly priceless.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn How it Works!

What are the common symptoms of kidney disease?

Common symptoms include fatigue, swelling in the legs and ankles, changes in urination patterns, shortness of breath, nausea, and confusion. Many people do not experience symptoms until the disease is advanced, so regular check-ups are important.

What causes kidney disease?

Kidney disease can be caused by a variety of factors, including diabetes, high blood pressure, chronic infections, genetic disorders, and prolonged use of certain medications. Lifestyle factors such as poor diet and lack of exercise can also contribute.

How is kidney disease diagnosed?

Kidney disease is diagnosed through blood tests (to measure levels of creatinine and blood urea nitrogen), urine tests (to check for protein and blood), imaging tests like ultrasound or CT scans, and sometimes kidney biopsy.

Can kidney disease be prevented?
  • While not all kidney disease can be prevented, maintaining a healthy lifestyle can reduce the risk. This includes controlling blood sugar and blood pressure, eating a balanced diet low in sodium and protein, staying hydrated, exercising regularly, and avoiding smoking and excessive use of painkillers
What treatment options are available for kidney disease?

Treatment options depend on the stage and cause of the disease. They may include lifestyle changes, medications to control blood pressure and blood sugar, dialysis to filter waste from the blood, and in severe cases, kidney transplant. Early intervention can slow the progression of the disease.

How does dialysis work and when is it needed?

Dialysis is a treatment that performs the function of the kidneys by removing waste, excess fluid, and toxins from the blood. It is needed when the kidneys are no longer able to perform these functions effectively, typically in the later stages of chronic kidney disease or in cases of acute kidney failure. There are two main types of dialysis: hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
